A California Golden Eagle landed in our families courtyard. The juvenile bird was was severely dehydrated and weak. It was most likely escaping the 17,000 acre wildfire near Big Bear, California. The eagle rested for 8 hours in the courtyard, drinking the water our family put out. It has since been relocated to a local wildlife rehabilitation center.
We had no idea the bird would be staying so long, and knew this was a rare opportunity, so we took a bazillion pictures. After we decided to leave it alone and set up a video camera to keep an eye on it.
